Courtney and Corey – The Glades Wedding

The Proposal: Christmas day 2010 – after opening presents and having breakfast together Corey called Courtney into the bedroom to show her a funny Christmas text he had received. As she walked into the bedroom, Corey was down on one knee, dressed in santa boxers & a santa hat with a ring. Simple, unexpected and absolutely perfect!

How we meet: We first meet through mutual friends on Indy weekend at Fishos. We exchanged numbers as I was originally going to set Corey up with one of my friends! But we hit it off so well, and fell for each other straight away!

Wedding Stationary: We made all the save the dates, and invitations ourselves.  We brought all our DIY stationary from Three Cheers Invitations online. The Design we chose were Black & White with black Lace & a little rhinestone centred black bow.  The save the dates were matching mini versions of our invitations. After making all of that by ourselves we decided against making the place cards to save us some time. Our place cards were made by Amy Beezley at Three Cheers Invitations.

Wedding Ceremony & Reception: We were married at the Glades Golf & Spa in Robina. We loved it from the moment we saw it, and always wanted to have our ceremony and reception at the one venue, so the Glades was perfect for us! We said “I Do” in a garden ceremony overlooking the boardwalk. It was so beautiful! After a miserable rainy morning we were lucky enough to have the clouds clear & sun come out right I walked down the Aisle. We were honoured to have Clare from Gold Coast Celebrant Clare Lee Celebrations marry us. She was so helpful with the whole process and helped us out with our vows. We wanted to make our vows personal and a little but funny. So both Corey and I wrote one special line to add to each other’s vows for us to read on the day.
Corey’s Read “I will notice every new outfit, and never ask how much it cost” Courtney’s Read “I will understand that when the surf I good, surfing will always come before shopping” Our Glades wedding co-ordinator Lauren Buggy was amazing! It made the day less stressful for all of us, knowing she had everything under control! Our guests were served drinks & canapés while we went off on the golf course for our wedding photos. The Glades offers many reception options for dining. We chose the seafood buffet. The food was delicious, and all of our guests commented on how exceptional the food was. Over all we were so pleased with the venue we chose, and wouldn’t change a thing.

Wedding Music: I walked down the aisle to “when you say nothing at all – Ronan Keating” Both Corey & I loved this song & knew we wanted it in our wedding. It was one of our easiest choices when it came to the music!

Wedding Decorations/Theme:  We had a modern glamour theme, with black & white as our colours. I used Audrey Hepburn as Inspiration especially when it came to dressing my bridesmaid’s. Our Reception room was decorated by Table Toppers. I was so pleased with the way the room turned out. It was exactly what I wanted.

Wedding Flowers: We were lucky enough to have Semone Dempster (our Sister-In law) do our amazing flowers for us! Our bouquets were made up of white roses & lace roses (black lace for the bridesmaids and white lace for the bride) which semone made herself. They were finished of with beautiful rhinestone detailing and a matching lace bow.

Wedding Cake: We had an amazing 3 tier round caramel mud cake designed and made by Madison Café. It was black & white decorated with pearls and had a large black bow on the front. It fitted our theme perfectly. We also had them make small figurines of Corey & I for the top of our cake. This also included a figurine of our Bulldog puppy  “Buster”

Wedding Dress & Suits: I wore a Maggie Sottero gown from Casars Elegance in Brisbane. The bridesmaid & flower girls dresses were made by a family friend Heather Cook who is an amazing dress maker! Corey & the boys were dressed by Roger David.

Wedding Shoes & Accessories: I wore stunning white heels with a bow on the side by Tony Bianco. The Bridesmaid wore black bow peep toe heels by London Rebel.

Wedding Hair & Make-Up:  A good friend of ours, Rebecca Cook from Facescape Makeup Artistry did the amazing job of our make-up! It was flawless and lasted all day. The bridesmaids, my mum, corey’s mum & I were over the moon with the job she did! our amazing hair was by Candy Stayte, who works with Rebecca on wedding packages a lot, she turned all the ideas in my head into reality. I could not be happier with the way the styles turned out. I had custom hair pieces by Skye from Skye Collections made for myself and the Bridesmaids. My hair piece matched my dress so perfectly it almost looked like I had cut a piece off my dress! My favourite part of my bridesmaid outfits were their head pieces. When I meet with Skye I wasn’t sure what I wanted for them, but she had soo many wonderful ideas it made everything so easy.

Wedding Photography: We chose Photographic Art as our Photographers. They were the first people we met with when looking at photographers. They were so lovely and they had beautiful photos. None like I had seen before. They were truly amazing. After meeting with them, we knew we didn’t need to meet with any others and we booked them straight away. We felt so comfortable around them from the very beginning which to us was very important. We wanted to be relaxed and have fun with our photos and we knew we could do this with Photographic Art. After seeing the end result we are truly grateful to have chosen such a talented team! Our wedding day was the best day of our lives, and our amazing photos will remind us of that! They are such an important keepsake, and we could have not chosen better photographers. Thank-you so much Photographic Art!

Wedding Honeymoon: For our honeymoon we spent 16 wonderful days in the US, Visiting Hawaii, LA & Las Vegas!

Advice: I was given some wonderful advice before my big day… And it truly helped!! “Don’t Stress if things go wrong, because in the end you & the bridal party will be the only one who will know that they are not 100% right” and “Sit back and take it in, because it will fly by” I am normally a big stress head, and my bridesmaids always joked I was going to be a bridezilla on the day.  It all is so surreal when it is happening I was completely opposite. I thought about the advice I was given and used it! And it helped 100%!
